Paula has been with Sunrise House for over 5 years. Paula has an amazing sense of humor, straight shooter personality, with the most compassionate ear. She has many years of experience helping youth through challenging situations under her belt and shares her knowledge with her team. Many youth return to give us updates, and it is always evident the impact she has made when they ask if she still at the shelter and when they could drop by to visit her. We thank you for sticking with us all these years, and look forward to many more!
“I always knew that I wanted to follow in my parents & grandparents footsteps and open my home and heart to youth. Between 1993 and 2014, my husband and I provided a safe place for hundreds of youth in Yellowknife NT. We didn’t want to just give youth a warm meal and a place to lay their head, we wanted them to know that someone cares. It’s my belief that everyone deserves someone that is willing to stand with them through the good times, and more importantly, the difficult ones. Joining the team at Sunrise House when we moved to Grande Prairie gave me the opportunity to continue doing what I love. Working with youth can certainly be challenging but let me tell you, it is incredibly rewarding and I can’t imagine doing anything else”.
