Our youth support workers work are available days, nights, weekends, even on holidays. These are the team members who answer the phone at door at 2am when a youth shows up needing a safe place, or 6pm when a parent arrives needing guidance after an argument with their child who has ran away. These staff show up every day having no idea what to expect. A shift as an YSW is a mix of conversations, playing games, building relationships, hearing stories that break their heart, helping youth overcome adversity, building resilience, and advocating for supports. They say that “Kids who need love the most, are the most difficult to give it to”. And yet our staff show up each day helping make Sunrise House a safe place that provide support for youth in our community.
